Notes taken in week 2
(1) ITC should have an emphasis on higher order thinking: Otherwise it simply becomes a time waster.
(2) ITC is not best for everything: While ICT serves many purposes it is not the be all and end all of tools teachers can use.
(3) Ethics and safety important points:
*Don't put anything about kids on an unprotected blog, no names, all photos must have parents permission beforehand, all outside maps, images, videos etc need to be referenced.
(4) It is important to: model to the students the correct way to behave on-line.
(5) Be aware of Copyright, defamation and trademark laws.
(6) Do not allow students access to your facebook account, personal info. It breaches teacher-student ethics.
(7) Connected learning is connecting the students to professionals.
(8) Networks are important.
(9) Think outside the box when creating and using ICTs-Set up real-life situations eg: health & safety, water auditing.
(10) Be sure to Scaffold thinking.
